Laura Robson makes her debut on the main Women's Tennis Association tour today when she plays Iveta Benesova in the first round of the Fortis Championships in Luxembourg. Britain's 14-year-old junior Wimbledon champion has been given a wild card into the tournament.

Robson, who will be 15 in January, played her first senior tournament last month, winning her opening match in Limoges before retiring injured in the second round. She has since played two more senior events, reaching the semi-finals in Shrewsbury and losing a tough three-set match to Germany's Angelique Kerber in Barnstaple.

Robson is ranked No 554 in the world with Benesova at 42 having got to a career-high 33 three years ago. Since reaching the second round of last month's US Open, the 25-year-old Czech has lost in the first round in Beijing and Tokyo and failed to qualify for last week's tournament in Zurich.

If she wins, Robson will play Russia's Anna Chakvetadze, the No 2 seed, or France's Mathilde Johansson. The Briton partners Argentina's Gisela Dulko in the doubles. In the first round they face the No 3 seeds, Vera Dushevina and Mariya Koryttseva.

*Andy Murray plays Serbia's Viktor Troicki in the first round of this week's St Petersburg Open, where he is the defending champion and top seed. The world No 4, who won the Madrid Masters on Sunday, is seeded to meet Nikolay Davydenko in the final.
